Head of IT Operations (M/F/D)

Vienna | starting immediately | Full-time

We are seeking an experienced Head of Operations to lead our IT operations team. This role is crucial in ensuring that our cybersecurity software stack is seamlessly integrated and maintained within our partner environments. The Head of Operations will manage a team of five skilled IT operations engineers responsible for the deployment, upkeep, and support of our on-premise software with partner companies, including Telecom operators and other enterprise clients. Additionally, this role oversees internal IT operations, including development environments, support systems, and vendor management of third-party IT services for internal requirements.

Your mission

  • Leadership & Team Management:Inspire and lead a motivated operations team. Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional development while ensuring collaborative, cross-functional teamwork to deliver innovative solutions.
  • IT Operations Management:Ensure the smooth operation of Linux-based systems for our telecommunications clients and manage our Amazon AWS cloud infrastructure. Oversee the administration of internal container environments. You are familiar with terms such as Kubernetes, Docker, VMware, load balancing, web application firewalls, IPv4/IPv6 routing and Anycast. Your strengths include continuous optimization, error analysis and project collaboration in the area of IT infrastructure. 24/7 monitoring of servers with external partners and services during productive system operation is your responsibility.
  • System and Infrastructure Management:You are responsible for the maintenance, rollout, and upgrades of production, pre-production, staging, and internal testing systems and to continuously enhance the IT infrastructure landscape.
  • Database and Cloud Management:Manage the provisioning, administration, and optimization of databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Aerospike, Redis) and oversee cloud architectures and networks (AWS, Kubernetes).
  • Provisioning and Configuration Management:Utilize version control systems (Git) and scripting languages (Bash, Python, AWK) effectively. Leverage tools such as Ansible and Terraform for automated system provisioning and configuration, ensuring efficient deployment and management of applications (Tomcat, Kafka, Redis, native Applications).
  • Process Optimization:Drive operational efficiencies by streamlining processes, automating tasks, and enhancing deployment practices.
  • Security & Compliance:Ensure all deployments adhere to industry security standards and compliance requirements, implementing robust processes to monitor and mitigate risks.
  • Customer Support and Monitoring:Ensure high-quality customer support through effective presentations, thorough documentation, and regular meetings. Implement and maintain monitoring tools (Nagios), managed our external partner for 24x7 support and provide technical 3rd level support as needed.
  • Internal IT Operations:Manage internal IT operations, including development environments, support systems, and the availability and performance of internal systems critical to our product and service lifecycle.
  • Helpdesk Coordination:Manage relationships with external partners and service providers to ensure robust internal IT support for our employees.
  • Internal IT Systems Management:Implement site networking and manage VPNs, firewall systems, and access controls to internal systems (BMD, GitLab, Jira/Confluence, Office 365).
  • Information Security Management System (ISMS):Support our CISO in the implementation of information security measures and ensure compliance with security protocols.

Your profile

  • Experience:Minimum of 5 years in IT operations, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role, ideally within a cybersecurity or software-as-a-service (SaaS) environment.
  • Technical Expertise:Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, network security, and on-premises deployment; experience with cybersecurity products is a plus.
  • Leadership Skills:Proven track record in leading teams, managing performance, and fostering professional growth among team members.
  • Project Management:Experience in project management methodologies, with a strong focus on operational efficiency and meeting project deadlines.
  • Vendor Management:Experience managing third-party vendors and ensuring adherence to service level agreements (SLAs) and quality standards.
  • Communication:Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

The minimum salary for this position is EUR 5.717,00 gross/month (LT/Regelstufe) based on full-time employment. Of course, there is a willingness to overpay in line with the market depending on qualifications and professional experience.
